Tooting picked up three valuable league points this evening however their propensity to lapses in defence at vital moments ensured that the scoreline was much closer than it should have been based on the balance of play.

After a pretty uneventful opening few minutes, Chatham Town took the lead on 7 minutes with a goal out of nothing when Joshua Jackson shot left footed from just outside the box and into the top of the Tooting net. The Terrors came close to an equaliser on 11 minutes when Billy Dunn had an effort cleared off the line. A minute later, Matte Pierson made a great save from Mohammed Kaffo to prevent Tooting from going further behind. On 22 minutes it was Taurean Roberts’s turn to go close when his effort hit the post after being put in by Mike Dixon. Two minutes later though Tooting drew level when Ollie Bennet stole into the six yard box to turn in a cross from Roberts out on the right. Three minutes before the break, the Terrors went in front, when Taurean Roberts converted from the penalty spot after Billy Dunn had been bundled over just inside the box.

Tooting continued to press forward as the second half progressed and extended their lead in the 71st minute when Billy Dunn curled in a superb 25 yard effort after being set up by Jordan Wilson. However within a minute of the restart, a defensive error gifted the ball to Chatham who gratefully accepted the gift and reduced the deficit back to one as Joshua Jackson got his second of the game. In the final minute of the 90 Mike Dixon appeared to have sealed the game for Tooting as he slid the ball home from close range, however there was still more to come as the Terrors conceded a penalty in the final moments of stoppage time, allowing the visitors once again to reduce the deficit to one as Owen Price scored from the spot. Thankfully for the Tooting faithful that was the last of the action before the referee blew for full time as the Terrors picked up all three points and reclaimed 4th spot in the league from near neighbours Carshalton Athletic
