A Sutton United Front: A Thrilling Week For the U's

I think it’s fair to say memories were made at Dartford, as Sutton advanced to the FA Cup 2nd round in a thrilling game.
Right from the first moments it had the makings of a classic, with Biamou giving the U’s the lead just 45 seconds in.
Roarie Deacon gave one of the best individual performances from anyone in a Sutton shirt in a long time – he looked like scoring or assisting every time he came forward and Dartford simply had no answer to his direct dribbling and excellent final ball.
A scoreline of 3-2 after 23 minutes isn’t something you see every day and in all my years of watching Sutton I don’t think I’ve seen a better game.
Indeed I don’t think I’ve experienced a better atmosphere either – what a noise from the travelling support. There will be great excitement on Monday night as the draw for the 2nd round is made, which United will feature in for the first time since 2011 when they went on to play in front of 3700 people and the ESPN cameras against Notts County.
Whatever cards are dealt to Sutton there’s no doubt there will be a great crowd and atmosphere home or away.
Away from the FA Cup it’s a tough league game against Barrow this Saturday.
The Cumbrian side are currently 5th in the league and have not lost since August, but were held 2-2 by 8th tier Taunton Town in the FA Cup on Sunday, with Liam Hughes being sent off meaning he will be suspended for Saturday’s game.
The U’s have a good record at home to top sides this season and will be confident about recording another win this weekend, despite what the bookies might say.
