A Sutton United Front: A Stearn Blow for Sutton

I think a point was a fair result in the Barrow game, and quite a good point for United too.

Barrow are a tough side to beat, with just 2 defeats in the league all season, and their prowess for dead balls is always tough to nullify.

Doswell picked a side, at least a back 4, that would prevent Barrow from utilising their strengths and it paid dividends as they struggled to create chances other than the odd free kick or corner.

Sutton’s main threat was the excellent Ross Stearn, which adds to the disappointment I feel having seen the news about his move to Eastleigh.

Moving to a side just 5 points above United in the table may seem like a bit of a sideways move, but you understand why he’s made that move – the money on offer at Eastleigh will be a massive help for him and his family.

It’s not like a greed motivated move for the money you find in the Premier League: players at this level do not make millions and any change in wage will be significant to them.

I’m not particularly worried about how we’ll replace Ross though, every time we lose a talented player Doswell always seems to have something up his sleeve.

Next Saturday’s opponents, North Ferriby, haven’t won in the league since the 13th September but have shown signs of improvement with 2 draws in their last 2 games.

It will be a tougher test than it looks on paper, but that away win at Dartford in the FA Cup has finally broken the long winless run away from home and confidence should be high
