Tooting ran riot at Chipstead’s High Road, hitting 7 goals without reply.
The first opportunity of the game fell the way of Tooting’s Billy Dunn after 10 minutes when he was through on goal however his effort was well saved by Chipstead ‘keeper Colquhoun. Fifteen minutes later, the Terrors’ growing pressure paid off when Billy Dunn cut in and hit an unstoppable left footed shot from just outside the box which flew past the helpless Colquhoun and into the back of the Chipstead net. The Chips almost levelled things 5 minutes later on the half hour however Raheem Sterling-Parker’s effort was well saved by Matte Pierson in the Tooting goal. On 43 minutes, Matte Pierson came to Tooting’s rescue again, saving from Rob Hastings with his legs after Tooting had lost possession following some sloppy defending. However it was the Terrors who had the final say of the half when Billy Dunn was put through, rounded the ‘keeper on the right hand side of the penalty area and slotted the ball home right footed from a tight angle to double Tooting’s lead.
Tooting were out of the blocks at lightning speed in the second half and in the 47th minute, Mike Dixon fired home from just outside the box. Within 60 seconds of the restart it was 0-4 as a ball came in from the right and found Dixon unmarked just outside the six yard area from where he made no mistake in firing the ball high into the roof of the Chipstead net. Ten minutes later it was almost 5 as Danny Bassett narrowly missed out, his effort striking a post. A minute later though it was 5 as Jordan Wilson broke through on the right hand side and fired a low drive from just inside the box which flew past Colquhoun and into the corner of the net. Following a double substitution, one of the players introduced, Taurean Roberts was soon in the action, firing just wide on 68 minutes. On 77 minutes, it was the turn of another substitute, Ollie Bennett on for Chace O’Neill, but this time Colquhoun in the Chipstead goal pulled off an excellent save, pushing the ball over the crossbar for a corner.
Ten minutes from the end, the Terrors earned themselves a free kick just outside the area and slightly to the left. Taurean Roberts struck the ball right footed into a melee of defenders only for it to bounce out to Billy Dunn waiting on the edge of the box. As the ball bounce up, Dunn struck it right footed down into the ground towards goal, an effort which saw the ball bounce back up and over Colquhoun into the back of the goal to complete Dunn’s hat trick and put the Terrors 6 goals up. There was still more to come from Tooting and Billy Dunn however as 2 minutes from time he picked the ball up outside the box and sent a superb curling effort past Colquhoun for his fourth of the afternoon and Tooting’s seventh. The final effort of the half fell the way of the home side as Raheem Sterling-Parker broke forward but shot across goal and past Matte Pierson’s far post. The day however belonged to the Terrors with their second consecutive comprehensive performance and a second consecutive clean sheet for Matte Pierson in goal as they climbed back up to second place in the table, 6 points behind leaders Dorking Wanderers but with a game in hand.
