Sutton travel to East Yorkshire this Saturday for their first ever meeting with North Ferriby United.
The Humberside club, located in a village a few miles to the west of Hull, were promoted last spring after defeating AFC Fylde in the National League North’s play-off final (and a year after they beat Wrexham in the FA Trophy final at Wembley). But they have found the going tough at the higher level and currently sit bottom of the table, having only won three of their twenty league games, the last of those wins coming in mid-September. Scoring has been a particular problem as they have managed only eight league goals all season. Last Saturday at fellow strugglers Woking they led 1-0 for almost all the second half before conceding a stoppage-time equaliser.
The club is owned by Eman and Steve Forster, the daughter and son-in-law of Hull City owner Assem Allam.
Sutton go into this match undefeated in seven league and Cup games, although they have drawn their last four in the league. They will have to make do without winger Ross Stearn following his sudden move to Eastleigh. Manager Paul Doswell will be checking on the fitness of striker Max Biamou and midfielder Nicky Bailey who both sat out last Saturday’s match against Barrow.
