Sutton Back At The Wood

After their long trip to Humberside at the weekend, Sutton are on more familiar territory this Tuesday evening when they travel to Boreham Wood in the National League.
These two clubs know each other well, having been regular opponents in the South division and, before that, the Ryman League. The Wood were promoted to this level in 2015 and had a difficult debut season, finishing 19th. This season, under the management of former AFC Wimbledon defender Luke Garrard, they have been doing much better and Saturday’s 2-0 home win over Southport saw them climb to 8th. Their success has been built on a tight defence, with only fifteen goals conceded in twenty league games. (Only Tranmere Rovers, with thirteen, have a better record in the division.)
Sutton manager Paul Doswell will be pondering a shake-up of his side following the disappointing performance at North Ferriby. He will be without captain Jamie Collins, suspended for one game after picking up another yellow card on Saturday, with Simon Downer the most likely replacement at centre-back.
