Tooting made it seven league wins on the bounce this evening with a stunning eight goal haul that saw Molesey totally blown away in a second half in which the Terrors were simply unstoppable. If Chace O’Neill was the Chief Orchestrator from the centre of midfield it was Billy Dunn who took on the role of Chief Assassin as he notched up his third hat trick of the season helping Tooting take their goal tally to 31 and counting in their current seven game winning run.
Tooting started the game in dominant fashion and looked the stronger of the two sides. They took the lead on 14 minutes when a left footed strike from Billy Dunn from a couple of yards inside the penalty area took a slight deflection off of the defender trying to close him down and beat Liam Allen in the Molesey goal. That man Dunn was on target again 13 minutes later when, from just inside the area again, he stroked the ball past the advancing Allen with the side of his right foot to double his and Tooting’s tally.
Just as it appeared that the Terrors were going to take the game by the scruff of the neck there began a 15 minute period where they lapsed and allowed the Moles back into things. On 32 minutes a penalty was conceded by Adriano Moraes which was converted by skipper Joe Pratley-Jones. Up until that point, Molesey had not threatened the Tooting goal however the penalty appeared to give them confidence and they began to come forward a little more readily. This paid off for them in first half stoppage time as they won themselves a corner which saw Pratley-Jones rise unchallenged to head the ball home and send the teams in at half time all square.
The Terrors were quickly out of the blocks as the second half began and on 50 minutes, a good run from Danny Bassett down the right hand side saw him pull the ball back to Jordan Wilson who stroked the ball home right footed from 12 yards out to restore Tooting’s lead. 13 minutes later, it was the turn of Taurean Roberts to get onto the score sheet when following one of his many mazy runs, this time down the left hand side, he unleashed a powerful right footed drive across the angle of the goal which beat Liam Allen and flew into the top corner of the net to once again give Tooting a two goal advantage.
The attacks were coming thick and fast now and on 66 minutes, a magical run from Chace O’Neill into the right hand side of the Molesey area, saw him pull the ball back for Billy Dunn to complete his hat trick, beating Allen from 10 yards out. And just 3 minutes later it was the turn of Danny Bassett to get in on the scoring action as he latched on smartly to a ball played in from the right to bury the ball in the back of the net from 7 or 8 yards out.
Despite leading 6-2, there was still more to come from the Terrors who were rampant and smelling blood every time they came forward, Chace O’Neill making it 7 as he stroked the ball home right footed from the edge of the six yard box. The final goal of the night went to Jordan Wilson in stoppage time when following a good run, he turned to create room for himself and struck the ball home left footed from just inside the area to score his second of the night.
