After the euphoria of Saturday’s FA Cup victory over Cheltenham Town, this Tuesday evening Sutton play the second of three knockout matches in eight days as they make the short journey to Raynes Park Vale in the second round of the Surrey Senior Cup.

Sutton last visited Vale’s Prince George’s Fields ground nine years ago in this competition, running out 5-0 winners. Vale are currently fourth from bottom of the Combined Counties League Premier Division, and on Saturday lost 5-3 at North Greenford United. This result leaves them without a league win since the 15th October.

Manager Paul Doswell has said that Sutton will field academy players in this season’s Surrey Cup, although fringe members of the first team squad may be given some game time. There is also the possibility of regular centre back Dean Beckwith captaining the side on Tuesday as he serves a four-match suspension which does not apply to games in this competition.
