Sutton are back in National League action on Boxing Day as they make the short journey to old rivals Bromley (kick-off 3 pm) for the first part of a festive double-header.
Bromley and Sutton have been familiar foes down the decades in the Athenian League then the Isthmian (Ryman) League and latterly the Conference South. The clubs have similar south London catchment areas and have both recently won the South title, Bromley last year and Sutton this. So it is perhaps fitting that they are currently next to each other in the table, Bromley in 13th being one place and three points higher having played a game more. Sutton would need to win by three or more goals to move above the Ravens.
Sutton have so far recorded only one away win in the league this season, while Bromley have won five of their twelve home league matches. Both clubs go into this fixture in decent form after each winning four of their last six league and cup games.
Sutton manager Paul Doswell may give a debut to new signing Jeffrey Monakana, who is expected to play in a wide position. But Sutton will still be without defender Dean Beckwith as he sits out the last game of a four-match suspension. Full-back Dan Spence is likely to remain sidelined by a hamstring strain.
Bromley FC have announced that segregation will be in place for this game. The two sides meet again at Gander Green Lane on New Year's Day.
