Tooting made an in form Corinthian Casuals side look very ordinary this afternoon as a strong all round performance saw them notch up their second win in 3 days to make it 7 points from 9 over the Christmas and New Year period.

Forced into a re-shuffled line up due to the suspension of skipper Sol Patterson-bohner the Terrors started the game brightly and went on to dominate in the opening 45 minutes. First chance of the game fell to Tooting on 8 minutes with an effort from Quincy Rowe but the Casuals’ captain and former Terrors reserve team ‘keeper Danny Bracken was equal to the task and made a good save.

Next to test Bracken was Ashley Robinson who launched a long range effort on 26 minutes which the ‘keeper, at full stretch, pushed over for a corner. From the ensuing corner the ball once again fell to Robinson just aside the box. Again he let fly from distance and again Bracken produced another excellent save turning the ball over in repeat fashion.

It was from a corner in the 38th minute that Tooting eventually took the lead. The kick was taken by Claudio Hoban out on the Terrors’ right. He swung the ball in left footed, high, and curling towards the far post. Bracken went to come off his line for the ball but found his path blocked by a sea of players from both sides crowded around him in the 6 yard box. As a result he was stranded and could only watch as the ball sailed over him and continued to curl before finding the top corner of the net on his far post. Casuals should have been level though just two minutes later when in their first real attempt on goal, former Tooting favourite Jamie Byatt found the ball crossed to his feet about 5 yards out but blasted his effort over the cross bar.

The Terrors started the second half strongly and following a corner, Jordan Wilson had a strike on goal but saw his effort blocked. Casuals then had the chance to draw level 5 minutes later when another former Terror, Jordan Clarke fired in an effort that beat Kyle Merson in the Tooting goal before striking his left hand post and running across the face of the goal line and being cleared to safety.

With half an hour remaining Tooting made their first change of the afternoon when Taurean Roberts replaced Claudio Hoban out on the right. Within 60 seconds of coming on, Roberts finished off a move that he started when he curled a low shot in from just inside the box which beat Danny Bracken and just crept inside his far post to put the Terrors two up. This prompted Casuals to change shape and start playing with a little more urgency and on 72 minutes a good move from the visitors resulted in Kyle Merson making a good save from an effort by Warren Morgan. Casuals finally got themselves on the scoresheet on 77 minutes when another good move was finished off by Shaun Okojie at the far post to halve the Terrors’ lead. There were to be no last minute nerves for Tooting though as 10 minutes from time they sealed the game when Sandy Cunningham calmly crashed home an effort with the side of his left boot for his first Terrors’ goal following a cross whipped in by Taurean Roberts.
