A Sutton United Front: Proud To Be An Amber

Well what an occasion that was, and the team stepped up to the challenge beautifully with Biamou unfortunate not to win it for the Amber and Chocolates.

It was yet another day that made me incredibly proud to be involved with this great football club – everything ran smoothly and the atmosphere at Gander Green Lane with 5000 people packed inside is something else.

Whilst it was a shame not to be on TV in this country it’s something of a novelty to have messages flooding in from all over the world, most notably the USA, with people now aware of our little club after Fox Sports televised the game.

The replay really ought to be on TV, I’m sure the British public are bored of the same old Man United/Liverpool/Man City ties by now.

Wimbledon go into the game as heavy favourites but the ‘away disadvantage’ we may have is on the most part merely psychological.

There will be no long distance travelling to sap the players’ energy, and I’m sure the support will be just as vocal as it was at the Lane.

The lack of away wins this season may damage confidence however, meaning the games at Braintree at Worthing this week take on an even greater importance.

Braintree have been struggling of late but are certainly no pushovers, as they showed earlier in the season when they took all 3 points from Sutton.

However if the U’s play with the same fight they had against AFC Wimbledon they should be confident of gaining revenge on the Essex side.
