A Sutton United Front: Don't Underestimate Us

Away games haven’t provided much joy for the U’s this season and the trend continued this week, with a defeat at Braintree followed up by a draw at Ryman League Worthing in the FA Trophy.

There were undoubtedly positives in both games – at Braintree for example Sutton created much better and many more chances; it was only the finishing that let them down.

Whilst the first half performance against Worthing was poor the changes made at half time sparked United into life and it was a much more vibrant display in the second 45, however once again the lads would have felt they really ought to have won.

The away form of this season doesn’t bode well for the big FA Cup replay at Kingsmeadow on Tuesday night, but it’s worth remembering Paul Doswell’s men have been anything but predictable this season.

Looking at the league table we’ve claimed ten points against the top 4 in 4 games, compared to five points against the bottom 4.

The FA Cup too is notorious for its shocks and upsets, and Wimbledon will not be completely comfortable going into the game at all.

Granted, the U’s will be massive underdogs but with every player putting in a solid performance and a bit of luck on our side it’s entirely doable.

With the 5000 attendance barrier smashed in the first game the crowd at Kingsmeadow will push it close (though won’t exceed that value, capacity being given as 4850) and it will be one of those special FA Cup days once again.
