A Sutton United Front: What A Club!

This column might be a struggle – I’m still lost for words!

It’s unreal how far we’ve come in the last few years, go back to April 2015 and we were losing 2-1 at home to Maidenhead United in front of 464 people, before finishing 15th in the Conference South.

Less than 2 years later and we’re in the National League Premier Division with a last 16 FA Cup tie against Arsenal to look forward to.

Having been around for a while now it’s an amazing club to be a part of – not just the incredible achievements but the people.

I’ve met some of my very best mates at Sutton United and my friends I’ve met outside of the club are starting to get hooked and come along as well – the ‘community hub’ Doswell spoke of after the Leeds game is becoming a reality.

We’re lucky to be run by probably the best chairman, board, manager and backroom team football has ever seen as well.

So looking ahead it’s only a couple of weeks until the likes of Alexis Sanchez and Mesut Özil come to Gander Green Lane, but there’s plenty going on in the meantime.

The FA Trophy last 16 against Boreham Wood is a pretty big occasion – there is now a very real chance of a Wembley final for the sides left in the competition.

Points will need to be picked up in the league as well – who’s joining me for trips to Tranmere, Solihull, and Guiseley all in a week?

I’m honestly looking forward to every single moment.
