Tooting and Mitcham extended their current winning run of league games to 7 as they overcame a hard working Sittingbourne side at the KNK Stadium this afternoon.
Tooting had much the better of the opening encounters however failed to create any clear cut chances despite Claudio Hoban and Dan Clements causing the visitors constant problems down both flanks. Tooting took the lead though on 20 minutes when Mike Dixon out muscled both of the visitors' centre backs to get to the ball ahead of them when they hesitated in dealing with a long ball, before taking it round Overland in the Brickie's goal and side footing it into the empty net. The visitors had their opportunities to however nothing they produced forced Kyle Merson into any serious action.
Tooting turned up the pressure in the second and pressed forward looking to to seal the game. They extended their lead in the 69th minute when the continually dangerous Dan Clements was brought down from behind in the box. The referee had no hesitation in pointing to the spot. Jordan Wilson stepped up to take the kick and calmly slotted into the 'keepers bottom right hand corner. There were further opportunities for the Terrors as they continued to come forward. Mike Dixon was unlucky to see his header from 12 yards out strike the crossbar as he got on the end of a high cross from Dan Clements out on the right. Meanwhile on the other flank Claudio Hoban was still causing problems and also struck the "woodwork" this time a post, as he cut in from the left to create room for himself before poking the ball goalwards.
