Sutton On The North Road Again

Sutton United's last match before their FA Cup encounter with Arsenal sees them travel to West Yorkshire this Tuesday evening for a Valentines date with Guiseley in the National League.

This game was postponed from 28 January, on the weekend that Sutton beat Guiseley's near-neighbours Leeds United in the Cup.

This is Guiseley's second season at this level, but they only just stayed up last spring and this season have been in the relegation zone since August. They currently sit 22nd in the table, six places and seven points below Sutton. But they do have a respectable recent home record, staying undefeated at their Nethermoor ground since September.

In October Sutton won the reverse fixture 1-0 at Gander Green Lane, courtesy of an own goal. However, they go into this match on the back of 5-0 and 3-0 away defeats, and without a goal since the Jamie Collins penalty against Leeds four matches ago. They haven't scored an away goal in the league since the 2-1 defeat at North Ferriby in November.

Sutton will still be missing midfielder Craig Eastmond as his sits out the final match of his three-game suspension. However, manager Paul Doswell will be more concerned about his growing injury list. He was without Dean Beckwith, Bradley Hudson-Odoi, Jeffrey Monakana and Maxime Biamou for Saturday's defeat at Solihull Moors. Full backs Dan Spence and Kevin Amankwaah were both forced off in that match with hamstring and calf strains respectively, while midfielder Nicky Bailey suffered a dead leg and is also a doubt. Another worry is that defender Simon Downer, so impressive in Sutton's Cup run, is one booking away from a two-match suspension that would rule him out of the Arsenal game. Doswell will be hoping that at least one of the injured players has recovered in time to play in Yorkshire.
