A Sutton United Front: The Late Season Push...

After a hectic week it was nice to return to normality at the weekend, and in the best way possible as we secured our first away win in the National League since August to pull us away from the relegation battle slightly.

I hope these don’t become famous last words, but with the team we have I’m not too worried about the drop, especially with the 3 games in hand we have.

That win will be a huge boost to confidence, especially in away performances, and I certainly don’t think it will be another 6 months before our next away win.

I think the fantastic performance against Arsenal on Monday would have been a huge boost to confidence and could be a massive boost to the club as well – we showed to the whole world just how good we are and I hope people will react to this by coming down and watching us at Gander Green Lane.

Boreham Wood on Tuesday night will be a tough test, especially after the problems they created for us in the FA Trophy, but with a number of players available for this game that were out for that 5-0 defeat it will be a completely different situation.

A win would leave us just 8 points short of the magical 50 point target – achieving that before the end of season run in will relax a lot of people and let the side play with complete freedom ahead of next season.

Doswell suggested after the Torquay game the aim is to win half of the remaining fixtures – a reasonably ambitious but definitely achievable target
