Tooting smashed another club record at Godalming this weekend, securing their tenth consecutive Isthmian League victory, thereby breaking a club record that was initially set 59 years ago by the first Tooting side to win the Isthmian League title in the 1957-58 season.

The game itself started brightly for the Terrors today with Mike Dixon striking the post in only the second minute of the game. Billy Dunn had a headed effort cleared off the line in the 12th minute and on 34 minutes Mike Dixon again went close but this time his effort was deflected away for a corner. Despite the continued pressure though, the home defence held out and the teams went in level at half time.

On 52 minutes, an enforced substitution by the Terrors prompted a tactical change. With full back Ashley Robinson going off still feeling the effects of an earlier hefty challenge, he was replaced by former Godalming striker Jack Mazzone as Tooting switched to three at the back in order to reinforce the front line. Within three minutes of coming on, Mazzone had the ball in the back of the net however the effort was ruled out as the ball had already been adjudged to have gone out for a corner. As the half progressed Tooting continued to create chances but failed to find the back of the net. On 56 minutes Mike Dixon had another effort, this time a low strike from just inside the box however it was comfortably saved by Oneal Garnes in the Godalming goal. Seven minutes later Garnes was well beaten by a strike from Dan Clements from 20 yards out but to the dismay of the Terrors' support, the shot crashed against the cross bar.

The breakthrough for Tooting finally came in the 78th minutes when they won themselves a free kick out wide on the right. Peter Wedgeworth stepped up to take it and from 25 yards out, curled the ball into the top corner of the goal, just inside the far post to put Tooting one up. The Terrors continued to press and on 88 minutes a charging run into the left side of the penalty box saw Mike Dixon play the ball inside to Jack Mazzone who swept it home unchallenged from 6 yards out to seal the game for Tooting. Deep into stoppage time the icing was put on the performance when Jack Mazzone hit his second of the game when he was put through down the middle by Mike Dixon with just the goalkeeper to beat.
