Sutton Welcome The Minstermen

York City pay their first ever visit to Gander Green Lane this Saturday as both they and Sutton look to build on recently improved form in the National League.

York were relegated back to this level last year after finishing bottom of the Football League, having had a previous spell in the Conference between 2004 and 2012. They have struggled for most of this season and are currently second-bottom of the table. However, manager Gary Mills has gradually been rebuilding the squad since his return to the club in October and the Minstermen have only lost once in their last eleven games, a run which has seen them reach the FA Trophy semi-finals where they will meet Lincoln City. That revival has been helped by the re-signing of hefty and experienced striker Jon Parkin who scored twice in last Saturday's 3-1 league victory over Eastleigh.

Sutton drew 2-2 at York in late October, both their goals scored by Jamie Collins from the penalty spot in a match that saw Dean Beckwith dismissed for a second yellow card.

Paul Doswell's men have taken seven points from their last three games and are now 16th in the table, only three points behind 11th-placed Chester City. But they will have three players suspended for this match. Simon Downer and Craig Eastmond complete two-match bans for accumulated yellow cards while Roarie Deacon misses the game after his sending-off at Barrow last Saturday. If goalkeeper Ross Worner remains injured then Will Puddy will continue to deputise.
