A Sutton United Front: We Can't Keep Dominating And Not Scoring

Saturday was the story of our season away from home, with an actually quite decent performance rather wasted with poor finishing and costly defensive lapses.

Realistically we should have got a result from the side with one of the best home records in the league, one who are making a very convincing push for the playoffs.

Instead we’re left cursing missed opportunities once again, with Adam Coombes the main culprit on this occasion, Kieran Cadogan also guilty in the second half.

Pick up a couple of results in our next couple of games and nobody will be worried but there’s always issues when you’re looking down the table when you’ve played well enough performance wise to be pushing on up.

Tuesday at Maidstone is now a massive game – we all remember the joy we experienced there last April in the title race and it will be a similarly glorious feeling if we pull it off this time.

The Stones are without a game in a while so starting quick is imperative; especially as the last few games they have played they’ve been on good form.

You can tell Coombes needs a goal to get his confidence going, and when he does get that elusive strike he could become a key player for Sutton – he has a tendency to get in all the right positions though does need to watch the offside trap a bit better.

You still get the feeling that everything will click together soon and we’ll stay up, but hopefully that occurs before too long with some huge games coming up
