Tooting made it 14 wins on the bounce today and maintained their nine point lead at the top of the table with a comfortable victory over Walton Casuals, however the game was overshadowed by a horrific looking injury to stand in centre back Bash Alimi.

In the opening minute of the game he was knocked out in an ariel challenge after he was accidently caught on the side of the head by the shoulder of the player challenging him. There was a delay of almost 30 minutes as Bash was treated on the field by staff from both clubs and subsequently paramedics who took Bash to St George’s hospital by ambulance.

When the game eventually re-started, Bash Alimi was replaced at the back by Eddie Dines, ironically making his first senior appearance for 3 months after being hospitalised by an injury sustained in the reverse fixture with Walton Casuals back in December.

Despite the long delay, the Terrors were quickly into their stride and a Billy Dunn strike on 5 minutes produced an excellent save from Denzel Gerrar in the Casuals’ goal. Five minutes later a shot from Mike Dixon produced another good save. Casuals’ first effort on goal came on 17 minutes, this time Kyle Merson saving well from Gabriel Odunaike. On 34 minutes, Tooting’s continued pressure paid off when skipper Sol Patterson-Bohner sent a long ball through the middle. Mike Dixon got to it ahead of the Casuals' defence, ran in on goal and slotted it past the advancing ‘keeper and into the back of the net. In the final minute of the half, the Terrors went two up following a run down the left by last week’s goal hero Tenny Adebowale. As he ran into the box, he dropped a shoulder, beat the full back and sent the ball across the face of the 6 yard box where it was met by the perfectly timed run of Dan Clements who buried the ball into the back of the net.

Tooting continued to dominate the game in the second half and further chances fell the way of Dan Clements on 58 minutes and again on 68 minutes; the first hit high over the crossbar, the second well saved by Gerrar in the Casuals’ goal. There was also an opportunity for Billy Dunn on 73 minutes but again it was well saved by Gerrar. Casuals’ only real strike on goal in the second period came seven minutes from time when they won a free kick just outside the Tooting penalty area. Inevitably, it was ex Terrors’ favourite Jordan Cheadle who stepped up to strike the ball but fortunately for Tooting the ball went wide of Kyle Merson’s right hand post.
