A Sutton United Front: One More Win...

Saturday’s performance was far from the level expected of this side, and only a late goal could save U’s from what would have been a very damaging defeat.
Other results could have been worse, but there’s still work to be done to secure survival in this division – starting with the Gateshead game on Good Friday.
It looked to me like complacency was an issue on Saturday, with players and indeed some supporters thinking we’d only need to turn up to beat the league’s bottom side.
That complacency obviously won’t be an issue against higher ranking opposition, so hopefully an improved performance will be given on Friday.
There’s no doubting the quality of this side, players like Roarie Deacon a class above most in this division, and with mindsets in the right place we ought to be able to at the very least secure the one win needed in the last 4 games.
It looks like a rare season where 50 points won’t be the safety mark, with competition so fierce at the bottom of the table.
I probably shouldn’t be making predictions knowing my track record but I’ve said for a while now I think Solihull will go down – their 9-0 hammering at Tranmere means they’re now in deep trouble.
With a lot of those in trouble still to play each other it will be fascinating to see how the battle unfolds – though it’s one I want to watch from afar.
A win against Gateshead will allow us to do that: the team have the quality to achieve this but have to make sure they show it.
