A Sutton United Front: Water Performance

They say pre-season does not matter performance-wise, but it is nice when you make the effort to travel down to Havant for a game to see your side score five goals.
The intensity and quality of the U’s performance made it feel almost like a competitive fixture, with Havant blown out of the water at times.
Talking of water the state of the pitch was certainly a talking point amongst the travelling supporters – would a postponement or abandonment at any point have helped to protect the players on a surface clearly not fit for football in the second half?
Injury to Adam Coombes is a worry and he is added to an already long list including Worner, Walton, Beckwith, John, Downer, and Hudson-Odoi.
We’ll have to hope it isn’t too serious and the striker will be back in time for the 5th August for the Leyton Orient game.
It’s an excellent first fixture to have, with the world watching on as BT Sport televise the game.
It may be argued early on in the season is the best time to play Leyton Orient with their new look side perhaps not having the time to gel as much as they would by October for example.
However it remains a very tough fixture with the East London side one of the favourites to take the title and return to the Football League.
With around 1500 away supporters expected and 1400 U’s season ticket holders it looks set to be a huge crowd to match the occasion.
