After losing their last two home games, and slipping from top spot in the National League, Sutton United hope to return to winning ways at Gander Green Lane this Saturday (9 September) when they welcome Gateshead to the Knights Community Stadium.

The Tyneside club currently stand 11th in the table, having won three and drawn two of their eight games. They have yet to win away, their only point on the road coming from a goalless draw at Ebbsfleet. Last season, on Good Friday, Sutton won this fixture 3-0, Roarie Deacon's penalty preceding a brace from Maxime Biamou. Both those players have since left the club.

Sutton are now in 4th place, with five wins and three defeats to their name. There is a chance that centre back Dean Beckwith and striker Ross Lafeyette will return from injury on Saturday, with forward Adam Coombes probably a little further away from fitness. Kevin Amankwaah has joined Bath City, so either Dan Spence or Nicky Bailey is set to start at right back. 18-year old defender Jordan Bentley has signed on loan from Plymouth Argyle.

United are back in action next Tuesday evening (12 September) when they travel to Dagenham & Redbridge, the side who now lead the table following their 3-1 victory over Gateshead last Saturday. The Daggers are undefeated this season, with four wins and four draws, an achievement that helped earn John Still the divisional Manager of the Month award for August. They are also the division's top scorers, with nineteen goals, six of which have come from Corey Whitely. Also among the goals have been Morgan Ferrier (with four) and Michael Cheek (three), close season signings from Boreham Wood and Braintree Town respectively. Fellow striker Oliver Hawkins has recently signed for Portsmouth.

This game is also a repeat of a fixture played over the last Easter weekend, Sutton recovering on the Bank Holiday Monday from a 2-0 half-time deficit to draw 2-2 thanks to two more Biamou goals. The Daggers went on to finish fourth, losing to Forest Green Rovers in the play-off semi-finals.
