Playing in the FA Vase for the first time ever, Tooting Bec faced a tough task against a Littlehampton side playing two divisions above them, in the Southern Combination Premier Division.

However a strong team performance saw the club, only 13 years old, secure a famous victory to advance to the next round and move a step closer to Wembley.

Indeed only one other club, Skegness Town, triumphed against a side ranked two divisions above them that weekend, showing just how much of an achievement it was.

Playing at Raynes Park Vale’s home ground in front of a crowd of 53, the Surrey Elite League side were under pressure early on but with 28 minutes on the clock took the lead, Jonathan Ogidi with the goal.

It got better for the South London side, with Ogidi doubling his tally after the break to put a cup shock very much on the cards.

The visitors pulled a goal back to make it a nervous finish but a Myles Blenkinsop goal as the game went into added time sealed a famous victory.

Tooting Bec face another South London side in the next round, Fisher, after the Fish also caused a shock, winning away to higher ranked opposition in Banstead Athletic.

Fisher have an illustrious past with the previous incarnation of the club having had a spell in the National League, and playing in the National League South less than 10 years ago.

With Bec set to enjoy home comforts again it promises to be another massive day for the club.

Tooting Bec vs Fisher will be played on the weekend of Saturday 23rd September
