Sutton United, once again at the summit of the National League, will hope to continue their fine away form when they make the short journey to Woking this Saturday (16 September).
Tuesday's last-gasp victory at Dagenham, which lifted United up the table to begin a third spell as leaders, was their fourth away success of the season. Previous wins had been at Tranmere Rovers, Chester and Bromley, the only dropped points on the road coming in a 1-0 defeat at Eastleigh.
Sutton manager Paul Doswell will be aware though that Woking have enjoyed good home form this season, winning four games out of five at Kingfield. Their only reverse there was a 2-0 defeat to Leyton Orient. On Tuesday night they beat Solihull Moors 2-1, with Jason Banton and Charlie Carter on target. The Cards have a new manager this season, Anthony Limbrick, and his assistant is former Sutton captain Jason Goodliffe.
Last season, in a game played on 1 April, Sutton lost this fixture 2-1, Kieron Cadogan scoring the consolation goal.
United still have a number of injury concerns. Skipper Jamie Collins broke his nose in training last week and has missed the two games since, while fellow centre back Dean Beckwith has been sidelined for the past month with a calf problem. Louis John and Simon Downer may continue in the centre of defence, although the latter only returned to the first team on Tuesday after knee surgery in the close season. Young Jordan Bentley provides cover, and the experienced Simon Walton can also play at centre back if needed. Meanwhile, Nicky Bailey is out with an eye injury sustained in last Saturday's draw with Gateshead, and Walton will be expected to continue as the holding midfielder.
Strikers Ross Lafayette and Adam Coombes both remain doubtful for Saturday, but Craig Dundas, Tommy Wright and Coventry loanee Kwame Thomas should be available to play up front. Dundas, who scored his hundredth Sutton goal on Tuesday, will be looking to embark on his second century!
The Woking squad on Saturday is likely to include goalkeeper Nathan Baxter and winger Regan Charles-Cook, who are on loan from Chelsea and Charlton respectively. Both were in the Solihull Moors team that defeated Sutton 3-0 last February, Baxter saving a Collins penalty and Charles-Cook scoring twice. The Cards' captain Richard Orlu, who joined from Dover in May, is an injury doubt.
