Sutton Look To Get Back On Track At Home

Having failed to win any of their last three home games, but with three of their next four National League fixtures at Gander Green Lane, Sutton United will aim to revive their home form from this Saturday (23 September) when Barrow AFC are the visitors.

The Cumbrian club, who have just confirmed Micky Moore as their manager in succession to Paul Cox, are struggling to recapture the form of last season when they enjoyed a long spell in the top five before eventually finishing seventh. So far they have only managed two victories, both at home, their two points on the road coming from draws at Dover (1-1) and Solihull Moors (3-3). They currently stand 18th in the table, seven points behind Sutton.

United slipped from first to fourth place after last Saturday's 2-0 defeat at Woking, but are only a point behind leaders Aldershot Town.

Sutton manager Paul Doswell is likely again to be without two of his most experienced players, as Nicky Bailey and captain Jamie Collins are both recovering from facial injuries. There is hope that Collins's regular centre back partner Dean Beckwith will return after a calf injury, and that Louis John, seen clutching his shoulder at the end of the Woking game, will be fit to start on Saturday. Better news is that Adam Coombes, who injured an ankle in pre-season, made a substitute's appearance at Woking, though fellow striker Ross Lafayette remains a major doubt.

Barrow will be without defender Thierry Audel who has a broken arm, while striker Adi Yussuf and defenders Dave Nieskens, Moussa Diarra and Jack Barthram are all doubtful for Saturday. Their squad does includes midfielder Bedsente Gomis, signed from Sutton in the summer, and former Carshalton striker Byron Harrison, scorer of a very late equaliser in last Saturday's 1-1 home draw with bottom club Torquay.

Both of last season's matches between Sutton and Barrow ended 0-0.
