A Sutton United Front: Stoppage Time Is The Time

These stoppage time goals are becoming quite the habit now, and as far as habits go it’s not a bad one to have.

It is easy to cast your mind back to the rather flat season of 14-15 and the frustration of the late goals we conceded with some regularity in that.

There really is no better feeling having travelled several hundred miles to see your side snatch something at the death - I think it’s an extra 5 points snatched in stoppage time alone this season as well, making us 11 places better off.

On the whole there’s not really a lot to complain about as we head into another big game, this time against Dover, before the home fixture against Fylde at the weekend.

The humiliating defeat against Dover last season will no doubt be mentioned in the build up to this game, but two of the players who ripped U’s apart have now swapped colours and will line up for Paul Doswell’s side this time out.

This added factor will no doubt make the game even more entertaining with a big crowd for a Tuesday night surely due.

Credit to Dover, they’ve probably been the surprise package this season and will be keen to continue their good form which sees them currently top the table.

There is of course once again the prospect for Sutton to take over top spot should they secure a win and Dagenham fail to win at Aldershot.

Let’s hope the ‘top spot curse’ strikes once more on Tuesday night.
