Tooting crashed to another defeat this evening as they were soundly beaten by Staines Town for the second time this season. The way they passed and moved the ball around, and competed with their opponents in the opening half hour, gave no clue as to the capitulation that was to follow in the second half.

For the first 30 minutes, Tooting gave as good as they got, battling to win possession of the ball and moving forward at pace when the opportunities arose. There were half chances for Eddie Dines and Billy Dunn whilst Matte Pierson was in fine form when called into action at the other end. Tooting fell behind though on 32 minutes, perhaps against the run of play at the time, when Mo Bettamer headed home a corner from the edge of the 6 yard box. From this point the tide started to turn but thanks to Matte Pierson in goal, The Terrors went in at half time only one down and still very much in the game.

The second half started with Staines grabbing the initiative, closing the Tooting midfield down much more quickly than they had done in the opening period. Goal number two came on 51 minutes after an effort on goal was kept out but the ball ran to the unmarked Bayley Brown just outside the penalty from where he struck it with venom to drive the ball into the back of the Tooting net. Mo Bettamer got his second of the game 15 minutes later and as Tooting folded tamely this was then followed by a 6 minute hat trick from Elliot Buchanan. The scoring was completed in the 81st minute when Mo Battamer completed his hat trick to round off a miserable night for the Terrors.
