A Sutton United Front: A Win's A Win

After the frustration of Tuesday night it was nice to grind out the result at the weekend, even if the performance was not excellent.
Realistically we did a job; two goals before half time giving us a platform which we adequately defended for the majority of the half.
Sure it was an unnecessarily nervous final ten minutes or so but it’s a results business and we can’t complain too much.
I do worry about our vulnerability from set pieces though, particularly long throws, after seeing Dover undo us in the same way in midweek.
I’m sure it’s nothing a bit of extra training in midweek can’t solve however.
It’s looking ahead to the FA Cup now, and a potential banana skin tie against Southern Division One South West side Paulton Rovers.
Whilst it may be considered something of a step into the unknown for many of the U’s players, Tommy Wright actually played there last season, scoring twice in a 3-0 win for Salisbury.
With the young striker looking lively as anything he surely has a strong case to start.
Having said that the strength of the squad at the moment will give Dos a nice selection headache, and there will be plenty of opportunities to tactically alter things where suitable.
There will surely be no problems with complacency after the U’s cup heroics of last season – indeed the gap between us and Paulton is the same as the gap between us and Leeds.
Memories of last season will hopefully inspire a strong Sutton performance giving the catalyst for another good cup run.
