Saturday was undoubtedly a day of ups and downs, the joy of the late late equaliser just minutes after the huge blow of a serious injury to Craig Eastmond.
Late goals are a fixture of this season now, and it’s a testament to a side who never give up battling.
A doubt you’ll find a side with as much passion and desire as this side, and I think the picture I’ve chosen for this week’s article sums it up perfectly.
There’s no doubt the injury to Eastmond is a blow though, the former Arsenal man a vital cog of a successful side.
A quick google search for ‘broken ankle’ suggests at least 3 months out but I’m sure the medical team will be able to provide us with more accurate information in the coming days and weeks.
In the meantime it’s a chance for a replacement to step up and nail down a first team spot.
Kenny Davis will surely be more or less guaranteed a starting spot now, and perhaps there is a chance for Jack Jebb, currently out on loan at Welling, to get his chance.
There’s definitely no lack of depth, one of the many good things to have come from last season’s FA Cup run, and I’m sure we’ll be just as competitive as before – starting on Tuesday night against Aldershot.
Two late goals for Shots on Saturday ended their run of four league games without a win, and including their cup win against Torquay made it two wins in a row.
It’s never an easy place to go but the six game unbeaten U’s will fancy themselves for sure
